ALYONKA RUSSIAN CUISINE
Authentic Russian Food in Boise
Born and raised in the former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan, Elena DeYoung is the event coordinator for Boise’s popular Russian Food Festival. She’s organized the fundraiser at St. Seraphim of Sarov Orthodox Church since its humble beginnings 14 years ago. Back then, church volunteers baked in her Meridian home.
Nowadays, the annual event serves between 3,500 and 4,000 people over two days, and she keeps hearing the same request: “Where is the place we can eat food like this?”
As owner and chef, Elena created a familiar menu at Alyonka Russian Cuisine.
What People are Saying
“Highly recommend. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and welcoming. The servers were very attentive. The food was outstanding. We had chebureki appetizer, carrot salad, stroganoff, pork kabob with rice and vodka balls for dessert. We left happily, but not overly, stuffed. We will be back again very soon!”
“Fabulous food & flawless service”
“The owner Elena is an amazing chef and the warmest hostess. I am so very excited that she is opening a restaurant. Boise area is so lucky to add this restaurant to its cultural offerings.”
“Celebrated a birthday here and had a fantastic meal and a wonderful time. We enjoyed several of the appetizers, they were all large enough to share and were unique and delicious. The kabobs, stuffed pepper, and stroganoff entrées were cooked to perfection and came with a marinated side salad complimenting the meal.”
“The desserts were out of this world! The baklava and poppy seed ganache were devoured in spite of having stuffed ourselves. The service was perfect, the atmosphere was perfect. Highly recommended.”

Whether you’re in the mood for sweet, savory, or vegetarian, “Blini” (Russian crepes) are a staple for a quick meal or snack. Kids love em, adults crave em, and with an array of filling choices, you’ll have lots to sample to find your favorite.♨️Plain blinis are paired with sour cream, caviar, and smoked salmon ♨️Meat lovers will find theirs stuffed with beef and mushrooms and a side of sour cream for dipping.♨️ And vegetarian (our crowd favorite) is filled with a flavor packed mix of butternut squash, celery, cabbage, carrots, onions and parsley. And our little tip, ask for the sweet tooth special which comes with a side of preserves and Nutella. Yummy dessert treat that’s still packed with protein, perfect for picky eaters.Posted by Alyonka Russian Cuisine on Wednesday, August 19, 2020
