Hop in to Jumpin’ Janet’s for good times, good food, good beverages, good friends!
Formerly the Brass Lamp, owner Janet Carter has stayed strong through a myriad of setbacks, both personal and professional. Established October 12, 1999, Janet began her venture serving beer, wine and some food. Within a year, Janet managed to purchase a liquor license, entice with THE BEST prime rib ever created and charmed Bench dwellers with her wit and wisdom.
An avid biker, Janet owns a Victory but is not a member of any clubs. She enjoys the ride and she loves the people. Janet holds a very special event each spring called “The Blessing of the Bikes”. Between Mother’s Day and Memorial Day, a Sunday is dedicated to bikers with a best in show contest, a BBQ and an honest to goodness “blessing” on the bikes. Ordained minister and ‘salad man’, Chris Olsen, uses Holy Water obtained from St. Marks Church to ask the good Lord for safety for the riders and their bikes (The event will be on May 21 this year). The blessing is coupled with a pulled pork entrée that includes corn, mashed potatoes and coleslaw, all layered in a clear cup served with Janet’s wonderful smile and enthusiasm.
Whether it is her delectable prime rib dinner (voted best in Boise) served on Wednesdays and Fridays or a simple burger, Janet serves up some tasty treats. No deep fried here! All of her dishes are home-made with fresh ingredients. Daily specials and breakfast on Sundays make Janet’s a dining destination, whatever day of the week.
Sundays are always special. Breakfast is served only on Sundays and while enjoying your Bloody Mary and omelet, you can watch the NFL Sunday ticket on one of her many TV’s. Wondering what to order for breakfast? Bloody Mary and the Crustacean Creation, you can’t go wrong!
Football not your thing? Check out the pool tables! Free pool weekdays well into the afternoon and the tables, when they aren’t free, don’t cost a dollar, unlike most pool tables in the Treasure Valley. There are plenty of tables, so there is no need to challenge if you want to play a quiet game with your date.
Not a pool player? How about ping pong? Or darts? Or just hanging out on the patio enjoying crazy Idaho weather. Janet’s offers trivia contests, daily specials, pool tournaments and much, much more. Whatever the time of day, day of the week or the weather outside, Janet and her staff will deliver the service, smiles and all around good time needed to make this one of your favorite places to recreate!
