KINDRED VINEYARDS

ABOUT US

Created to bring people together, Kindred Vineyards combines great wines with great landscapes.   Designed to cultivate conversation, our wine work uses only the finest grapes, the best French barrels, and exceptional products down to the smallest yeast organism.  Sunnyslope’s almost Tuscany-style landscape allows friends, couples and families to experience peaceful solitude with views of the Owyhee mountains, the Snake River and our fresh spring fed creek, which provides the best possible irrigation for our grapes.

Pinot Noir

The Experiment: Have the same winemaker use the same process and the same grape varietal from both Oregon and Idaho to compare the terroirs.

The Result: Two distinct wines both reflecting their unique terroirs. The struggle, and great reward of making wine with Pinot Noir can be experienced in both wines.  How to Pair? The wine stand alone well – Listening toVan Morrison’s “Into the Mystic” is strongly suggested.

Sangiovese

Pack an old wicker picnic basket with some nutty Parmigiano-Reggiano. Include some tomato, basil and mozzarella topped bruschetta, a bottle of Summer Silhouette, and enjoy time reclining with your love on a soft blanket listening to the sounds of summer.

Aromas of rhubarb, strawberry, pear and some floral notes are topped with scents of light vanilla. On the palate, one experiences ‘almost’ ripe strawberries with a very mild tannin structure.

Chardonnay

The wine is named after the exquisite Glasswing Butterfly of Central America.  Like the butterfly, this wine expresses unique beauty and gentle grace.

We age two styles of Glasswing Butterfly:  Unoaked and French oak barreled.  Chardonnay can be easily overpowered.  Consider pairing with mild buttery dishes including clams, grilled fish, crab, or prawns. Also consider pairing with parmesan risotto or a light bruschetta dish.

Pinot Noir

Our estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon aged 2 years in French Oak accentuates the Sunnyslope terroir.  Spicy chocolate notes and full body make this a pleasant addition to any  dinner serving a variety of beef cuts such as a ribeye or a tomahawk.

Sangiovese

Our Cabernet Sauvignon Rose´is a delightful descendant of our 2019 Love Letter Rose.  Left on the skins for 9 hours, this fuller and dryer rose has a little sass.

Chardonnay

Riesling grows exceptionally well in the Sunnyslope region.  One of our best selling wines, our riesling provides a refreshing variation to the richer sweeter renditions.

Idaho is considered, by some, part of the new frontier of wine-growing areas of the United States. However, some of the first grapes planted in the Pacific Northwest were actually grown in Lewiston in the 1860s.

Known for its breathtaking wilderness and, perhaps more famously for potatoes, Idaho is also home to a fast-growing wine industry and fantastic wines. Nestled between the Rocky Mountains and the Snake River, Idaho Wine Regions nurture the grapes with a moderate climate, limited precipitation, and a consistent growing season that adds complexity to the grapes.

The characteristically cold winters allow vines to grow dormant gradually while ridding the plants of bugs and discouraging disease. A combination of cold nights and hot days serves to balance acids and sugars. The limited amount of rainfall allows growers to control water through irrigation.

Idaho is known for growing and producing classic varieties including Syrah, Merlot, Riesling, and Chardonnay, along with more adventurous wines such as Tempranillo and Malbec.
