About Us

Are We the Right Music School for You?

Since  1979 we have helped hundreds of students begin and continue on their musical journey. We are the largest school of music in the Middleton area, offering private lessons in all popular instruments, as well as voice. We know you are busy and it can be very hard to find a reliable music teacher. That’s why we go above and beyond to find the BEST music teachers in the Treasure Valley area–so you don’t have to!

Our staff consists of experienced music teachers, capable of teaching all ages and levels. We constantly renovate and improve our facilities as well as provide on-going support to our instructors to ensure we are always providing our students and parents with the best possible musical experience.

While you’re researching the best school for you, consider the benefits of becoming a Middleton Music Academy student and find out why we are your number one choice for music lessons!

11 Benefits of becoming a Middleton Music Academy Student:

1. Lessons for Guitar, Voice, Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, and Ukulele — in one location.
This saves our students time and money, as one family can take multiple instruments on the same day. Other studios offer multiple instruments, but we are the only one to offer all of the most popular instruments in a high quality, convenient environment and area!
We welcome all beginners and all levels–no matter what your age!

2. The largest and most qualified teaching faculty in the area!
We have 7 music teachers, who we’ve handpicked so your student can have the right personality and the right teaching style that works for them. All our teachers have teaching experience, a degree in music or extensive performing experience, and most importantly, a fun, motivating personality that you’re sure to love! No matter what your musical goals are, we want to help you reach them! Our goal is to inspire your student–and that’s the best teaching method of all!

3. A wide range of lesson times available, sure to fit any busy schedule!
6:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.  Monday-Saturday (morning lessons)
2:30p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Monday – Saturday (afternoon and evening lessons)

4. A proven track record of excellence.
Visit our testimonial page to see what our students are saying. Every year, aspiring music teachers start their own studio, and a year or two later it’s closed. We have a proven track record of offering  quality lessons in the   Middleton area, year round. Our full time mission is teaching music lessons, trusted by hundreds of families for 40 years.

5. A large comfortable teaching space for all students.
With over 1600 square feet, we have the most spacious, friendly teaching environment in  Middleton! Our students enjoy a spacious area with plenty of tables, chairs and room for group classes, games, activities, master classes and small recitals!

6. FREE, all inclusive recitals.
Every parent just wants to know how their child is doing and if they are really progressing. The best way for a parent to understand if their investment in lessons is really worth it is to have their child participate in a recital. In May, many of our students choose to perform in our annual recitals. Our recital location has several acoustic and digital pianos, so piano students are not playing on just a keyboard. Our sound system ensures a quality experience for all! Unlike other schools, parents never have to pay admission or any related fees for these recitals.

7. Professional office staff to serve you.
We strive to bring you the best customer service possible. We are continually adding hours to ensure that  we  are able to assist you when you call or come to the studio!  Excellent customer service is what sets us apart!

8. Conveniently located on Highway 44 in Middleton!
Due to its central location, our school is convenient and draws students from Middleton, Caldwell, New Plymouth, Star, Nampa, and Emmett. We are easy to find, right off the Highway 44, with daycare, dance, preschool, fitness, shopping and restaurants close by.

9. Make Up Classes
Missed a lesson? Out of town? No problem. Just sign up for our make up classes. They never expire, and you can come when it’s convenient for you.

10. Early morning lessons for homeschoolers, retirees, college students and working professionals.
Since we are the largest school in the Middleton area    we are able to be a ‘full service’ music school. This allows us to offer lessons as early as  6:30 a.m.  If you are a homeschool parent, retiree, college student or working professional who has a flexible schedule, take advantage of our early morning and late afternoon lesson spots.

11. Month to Month Lessons!
Our desire is to inspire our students with the love of music. We do this through teachers and music that our students love. Unlike other programs, we do not require semester minimums for lessons.  You can begin anytime! To stop lessons, we just need a 30 day notice.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT WILL I LEARN IN MUSIC LESSONS?
Our teachers understand that every student is an individual, with personal musical needs and goals. We make it a priority to tailor how we teach and what we teach to your individual needs.

If you enroll here for lessons, your teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music, and set goals to help accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child. Together, you will develop a plan to achieve your goals! We love beginners, so even if you don’t know where to begin, we can help!

WHAT STYLES OF MUSIC CAN I LEARN?
We teach all styles from rock, pop, new age, jazz, country, worship, blues and classical. We combine the important fundamentals with the music YOU want to play. With all of the teachers at Middleton Music Academy, you are sure to find the best match for YOU.

ARE YOUR INSTRUCTORS QUALIFIED?
Our instructors are highly qualified, all have teaching experience, and most importantly, they have a passion for teaching. Being a musician doesn’t automatically make you a teacher–that’s why we search for those who are best qualified for mentoring our music students!

We search  the Treasure Valley  area (and out of state areas) for the top teachers, who embody the high values at Middleton Music Academy. Most importantly, our instructors strive to relate their teaching to each individual student’s learning style. Many of our instructors have gone on performance tours of the USA, Europe and Asia and have years of professional performance and teaching experience. In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly, and strive to get to know each student and their parent on a personal level. We search high and low for the BEST teachers, so you don’t have to!

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO LEARN AN INSTRUMENT?

There is no set answer of how long it takes to learn an instrument. With regular practice, a basic level of playing can be accomplished in a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.

I DON’T HAVE ANY MUSICAL BACKGROUND OR ABILITY. CAN I STILL HELP MY CHILD PRACTICE?

Yes. Even if you don’t have a musical background you can ask the teacher for advice on how to help your child practice. By simply monitoring that they are doing exercises a certain number of times per day the student will progress. Parents will occasionally sit in on their child’s music lesson to get an idea of the proper way a song should sound or how the student should be positioning their hands.

New Brighter Notes Piano Classes Forming! Give your child the Gift of Music in a fun environment. Ages 6 – 12, Students receive private time and progress at their own pace. Check out the videos of our most recent Brighter Notes Graduates.

Brighter Notes Piano Course is a Successful Nine Month Group Piano Class for Beginners ages 6 – 12. Students function at their own level and pace throughout this course and receive personal and private attention. Each student may be in different method books, learning different things in the same class! This course introduces music to your child with many benefits over that of a private lesson:

1. A group atmosphere of fun, friendship and positive motivation.

2. An enhanced ability to play the piano with correct rhythm and fluency (excellent for sight reading).

3. An added incentive for parent and child to develop high quality and consistent practice habits at home.

4. An ability to perform in front of others with greater ease.

5. A full hour (or two depending on lesson choice) of instruction each week; giving a broader learning base which allows for better retention.

6. This class targets all learning abilities through all the different senses (multi sensory learning).

Each student will need to purchase a Brighter Notes Piano Course Packet ($35.00)

This packet includes individualized  weekly assignment sheets, worksheets and other handouts for the students during the 9 month duration of the class. Soon this packet will be accessible with individualized weekly instructions for your child on line at thegrandstaffacademy.com (home of Brighter Notes Piano Course).

The packet includes the highly acclaimed Rainbow Note Reading Program, which consists of a set of Color Coded Flash Cards and Intervalic Reading Cards that flow along with each class instruction. Classroom games are an integral part of the multi sensory note reading program.

Also included in the packet is a Composer Collection containing a selection of professionally sketched portrait drawings of ten composers and their short biographies geared to the level of the students.

Aside from the packet, each student will be assigned music to purchase before class starts, depending on individualized age and ability. It is recommended to purchase a zipper pouch for the student to bring. This will go in their class binder they carry back and forth to keep loose items such as pencils and flash cards from getting lost.

TESTMONIALS

“My daughter has taken lessons from Emily at the Middleton Music Academy for several years. She is a Senior now and will graduate in the Spring. Last week she went to try out for ISU’s music program. Not only was she accepted into the program, but she was offered a scholarship right after playing for them.”
-Julie Dombroskie

“We have been so impressed with the Middleton Music Academy. We feel it is a wonderful blessing to have found it. Olivia loves going to her Brighter Notes Piano Class each week. Thank you!”
-Mary Cota

“As a young girl, I took the Brighter Notes Piano Class through Middleton Music Academy. The class was very interactive and kid friendly. It had the perfect balance of learning and fun for a little girl like me! Now I’m teaching those classes at the Middleton Music Academy studio. It’s amazing to see how far and quickly I’ve grown and improved in a few years. I also take cello lessons at the studio and the teacher there is so fun to work with, but also teaches really well. I played the cello for just over 4 years before starting private lessons with him. It’s surprising to see how much I still learn every week.”

“Middleton Music Academy has been the BEST solution for music lessons for my kids. I finally have a one stop shop for multiple kids’ piano lessons and my sons’ cello lessons. Emily Hibbert has bent over backwards to accommodate our schedules and is always so open to feedback! So grateful for this music academy in my community!”
