RAINBOW DAY’S PRESCHOOL
About Us
Our Philosophy
We believe that a quality preschool should have:
-
A balance of teacher-directed structured learning, creative expression and child-initiated free play
-
Activities that build academic skills at each individual child’s level
-
Experiences that are based on children’s interests
-
Small class sizes allowing for maximum student comfort and individual attention
-
A loving environment fostering kindness, respect, and peaceful problem solving.
Our program strives to encompass all those characteristics.
About The Director
Karisa Day is a former elementary teacher, married, and has one child.
She married her husband Thomas Day in June 2014. In March 2016, their son Lucas was born. Being a helpful wife and nurturing mother are important roles for Karisa. Her idea of starting a preschool came from wanting to stay home with her son, but continuing doing what she loves, teach! It was the perfect mix! Karisa could expand her teaching by providing foundational learning for children ages 2-5, involving her own children in the experience.
Karisa graduated with a Bachelors in Elementary Education from Boise State in May 2013. She has been a certified teacher for 5 years with Literacy and Math Endorsements. She began teaching 4th grade in the little town of Wilder, Idaho. After 2 years she moved to teaching 5th grade for another 2 years. She taught middle school math for one year before deciding to begin her at-home preschool. Karisa also has experience teaching a kindergarten summer school class. She is CPR and First Aid certified, and has passed a completed background check.
In Karisa’s spare time, she likes to spend time with her family. They like to go for walks, watch movies together, try new restaurants, or go swimming. She also loves to travel and has been to many places around the world including: Australia, Fiji, London, Paris, Mexico, Hawaii and the Bahamas!
Our curriculum is comprised of 3 areas:
School Fundamentals:
-
Children will practice all the necessary fundamentals to give them confidence and a head start for kindergarten, such as writing their name and knowing their letters, letter sounds, number, counting, shapes and colors among other things.
Life Skills:
-
Children will develop basic skills to prepare them for a healthy life, such as safety rules, exercise, nutrition, hygiene, and good manners.
Life Science:
-
Children will learn about the exciting world around them with weekly themes (animals, sports, weather, countries, cooking, out space, families and more!)

TESTIMONIALS & MORE
“There are so many wonderful things I could write about Mrs. Day, but that would take me all day! She is a wonderful, outgoing, caring, helpful, and fun teacher! My son and I had the pleasure of having her as his elementary and middle school teacher for 3 years (but knew her for 4 years) and what a difference that made for him. I found that it was so easy to talk to her about my son whether it be education directed or personal. We will miss her greatly and wish her all the best on her new journey!“ -Deann G.

Here is another kiddo reading at age 4! She is building letters, checks to make sure it is a real word, then we sound it out. So exciting to watch reading develop in these littles. Setting them up for success. #thisispreschool

This is my son reading at school. Today was the first day we started putting letter sounds together and reading. Cat was better but I didn’t catch it on video. Not bad for a 3 year old! #thisispreschool

Check out these sweet girls reading together! Reading pictures is the first step to reading a story. So proud!
