“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” – Jim Rohn
Float Therapy addresses both mental and physical health as it aides in combating hypertension, arthritis, back pain, muscle fatigue, and insomnia. Pain reduction is one of the most beneficial aspects of floating. Many users report a significant decrease in pain levels after just one float.
In addition to these physical benefits, floating contributes to changes in the brain’s chemistry. Research on floating has found that the brain responds positively to the floating experience by increasing the amount of endorphins produced while decreasing stress related chemicals such as cortisol, epinephrine, norepinephrine, and ACTH. By reducing these “fight or flight” chemicals, the brain is better able to deal with daily stresses.
“The time to relax is when you don’t have time for it.” – Sydney J. Harris
People today lead busy lives full of chronic tension and stress, most have never experienced the feeling of true relaxation. As a person’s stress builds, it can develop into various health problems or lead to reliance on prescription drugs. Stillwater Float Center offers relief from tension and stress through separation from external stimuli. Floating invokes a passive relaxation state that many users experience during the first float. This allows for full rest and relaxation, without learning any exhaustive techniques or strategies.
Meditation can be defined as the continued or extended thought, reflection, contemplation, or spiritual introspection. While floating, the brain enters into a Theta wave state. The average person experiences Theta waves just as they are about to fall asleep, and at the moment of awakening. While these moments are fleeting in daily life, they can be experienced for the majority of an hour-long session in the float pod. Anyone who meditates on a regular basis can tell you the value it has in their life.
Meditation can help regulate blood pressure, increase immunity, fertility, and pain tolerance, cure headaches, and migraines improve athletic performance and help battle addictions. While meditation is a religious experience for some, it is also a powerful tool for self-regulation, insight, and well-being. Floating allows people that are not trained in meditation techniques to experience the benefits of meditation. Floating is for your benefit, and Stillwater Float Center is proud to offer this service.
“The greatest efforts in sports came when the mind is as still as a glass lake.”
– Timothy Gallwey
Ask any athlete, and they will tell you that their performance declines as distractions, anxiety, and pain increase. Floating has been used by many athletes and sports organizations in the past. Most notable are Carl Lewis, the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies, the Dallas Cowboys, and several Olympic teams.
Floating has been shown to improve athletic performance by:
– Increasing physical relaxation which leads to greater stamina, speed, strength, and coordination.
– Reducing injuries due to over training or muscular tension and imbalance.
– Enhancing the body’s ability to recover from injuries and the normal stress of intensive exercise.
– Speeding recovery by reducing lactic acid buildup, and eliminating post-competition letdown.
– Improving coordination and performance skills due to in-tank visualization and guided imagery rehearsal.
– Elevating the athlete’s mental state through increased confidence, concentration, calmness and poise.

OUR PROMO VIDEO
When you arrive for your first float, we will explain the entire floating process and allow for any questions or concerns you may have. You will then be taken to your private float room where you will find a private shower and the luxurious Float Pod.
After closing and locking the door behind you, you will take a quick shower to rinse off any excess oils and dirt from your skin. We recommend inserting your earplugs prior to entering the shower, as they are easier to insert when your hands are dry.
Step into the float pod, lie down on your back and float in the warm, silky water. While we recommend floating with the door closed and pod light off, it is your choice to float however you are most comfortable. If you float with the pod door open, you may feel a slight chill during your float. You may also bring a customized playlist with your own music or audio tracks to listen to while floating.
During the last few minutes of your float, music will play in your pod to signal that your session is nearly finished. When the pod light turns on it is your cue to sit up, open the pod door, and carefully step out into the room. Shower using the provided body wash, shampoo and conditioner to remove the excess salt from your skin and hair. There is also lotion for your use, although you will find your skin to be very soft after floating.
After dressing, exit the float room and enjoy a few relaxing minutes in our lounge area. We will have locally crafted herbal tea, and/or cool water for your refreshment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED Questions
Questions about floating?
Don’t worry we get lots of them and love to answer them anytime! If you have a question that is not answered below make sure to contact us so we can put your mind at ease.
1. Is the water clean?
Yes, very clean! Our float pods filter the water constantly in between float sessions, and all night long. The high salinity of the water prohibits any bacteria from forming in the solution. The pods also use ultraviolet, and ozone purification to achieve perfectly clear and shimmering water.
2. If I fall asleep, will I drown?
No. While it is possible to fall asleep in the pod, the natural buoyancy of the water will keep you afloat. If you fall asleep, you will be woken by the light and filtration system turning on at the end of your session.
3. I am claustrophobic, can I still float?
Yes! While we recommend floating with the door closed and light off, you are free to float however you feel comfortable and to get out whenever you would like. Many people with claustrophobia report no problems in the pod. You are in complete control of the float experience!
4. Can I float while pregnant?
Yes! The float pod is completely safe, and will temporarily free you of the weight of your baby. Some women report that their baby loves it as much as they do! If you have further concerns, please consult your physician before booking a float.
5. Should I bring anything with me?
We have all of the essentials for your float experience. We provide towels, earplugs, body wash, shampoo and conditioner for your use. If you wear contacts, please remember to bring your case and saline solution with you.
6. Can two people float at once?
Our pods are not large enough for two floaters at the same time. Since we have two float pods, two appointments can be made at the same time.
7. Will the salt hurt my skin?
No. Epsom salts will not dry out your skin or dehydrate you. You will leave the float pod feeling smooth and silky.
