Soldier Mountain has affordable ticket prices, and special pricing for things like a larger groups and twilight deals for the last hour of the day!
We believe playing together is an important part of family and life. It’s important to us that everyone is able enjoy the day on Soldier Mountain with family and friends.
We have two chairlifts reaching up to 7,177′ and a magic carpet for the little ones to learn on.
If you want to reach 10,095′ Smoky Dome’s awesome acreage, then Soldier Mountain’s Snow Cat skiing will promise private powder. You can enjoy this awesome experience with your friends and family as long as all are expert skiers and you get set up with a cat skiing appointment.
THE LODGE
A beautiful lodge serves homemade fare with a smile on the side. Enjoy hand-pressed burgers, great chili or quick and easy snacks for the kids.
THE FOX DEN PUB
The Fox Den pub area offers a cozy spot to hang out and warm up after a good day outside.
OUR HISTORY
In 1947, a visit to watch the Olympic Team Tryouts held at nearby Sun Valley, prompted friends Bob Frostenson and Harry Durall to found Soldier Mountain Ski Area. That summer they raised $10,000, began work on a base lodge, and purchased two rope tows. They cut timber, installed lifts, and built lodges by hand. The first chairlift was installed in 1971 and the second was added in 1974. In the late 1990s, actor Bruce Willis purchased the ski area. In Spring 2012, Mr. Willis donated the ski area to a 501[c]3. In November of 2015, Matt and Diane McFerran of Bend, Oregon purchased Soldier Mountain and operated it until 2020. It is currently owned by an investment group of skiers, boarders, and back country enthusiasts who have a vision of what Soldier Mountain can become.
Still a family-friendly mountain, Soldier Mountain offers back country Snow Cat skiing/boarding, overnight yurt stays and a great time on the slopes! Soldier Mountain Ski Area welcomes everyone, and we look forward to seeing you on the mountain!

We’re open every Thursday through Sunday to the general public. No reservations required, and no limit on ticket sales. Come one, come all!
We’re open to private group reservations on non-operational Mon-Wed through our “My Mountain” (own the whole mountain for a day!) bookings.

Ride along on a cat boarding day in Soldier Mountain’s backcountry. It’s here, in the Sawtooth Mountains, that the Soldier Mountain Guided Cat opens up a pure powder paradise in Idaho’s pristine backcountry. A team of expert guides takes a group of 12 snowboarders and skiers for a full day exploring 2,000 acres. Some of the runs we explored were Sequoia, Sally O’Malley, Big Bowl, Sucker Creek, and Nose Bowl. Special thanks to Ski Idaho for the adventure.

Whether you’re a beginner or an expert our qualified instructors can help you enjoy the mountain more confidently. Through innovative age appropriate teaching techniques, we help build the skills and the confidence you or your child needs to have fun while exploring more challenging terrain. Our Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI) certified school has an amazing group of instructors that will help you enjoy the mountain and be riding in no time. We have a consistent education program which builds on skills you learn each lesson so you can pick up where you left off each time you come to the mountain.
