Since joining the ECHL for the 2003-04 season, the Idaho Steelheads have been synonymous with success. The team has reached at least the conference semifinals in six of the past nine seasons and hoisted the Kelly Cup in 2004 and 2007, narrowly missing out in 2010 & again in 2023.
It all started in 1996, when Idaho’s professional hockey team was officially named the Idaho Steelheads. The process to name Idaho’s newest professional sports franchise began in the spring of 1996 with the “Pepsi Name The Team Sweepstakes” that gave consumers throughout Southern Idaho the chance to vote for their favorite team name.
The original 25,000 entry blank were quickly consumed forcing a second printing to meet the tremendous demand. Season ticket holders were then given the opportunity to make the final decision between Steelheads and Ice Hawks in the “Pepsi Final Vote.” The name Steelheads comes from a sea-run rainbow trout usually returning to freshwater to spawn, found in rivers throughout Idaho.
Rainbow trout and steelhead trout are the same species.

Monthly Installments:
Good for new purchases or contract renewals, the monthly plan allows fans to make equal monthly payments that will have the customer’s account balance paid in full by September 5th.
NEVER A WASTED TICKET
One of the biggest worries of Season Ticket Holders is the difficulty in making every game. They fear that they’re losing money if they can’t attend each home game.
Season Ticket Holders can utilize this benefit to make sure every ticket gets used… even for the games they miss.
Here’s how — any unused Season Ticket can be exchanged at the Idaho Central Arena box office for a P4 Club ticket to any non-Friday/Saturday home game. All the ticket-holder pays is the box office fee… but it’s essentially like getting an extra ticket to the game for less than five dollars! The unused ticket itself must be presented at the box office for the exchange to take place.
You can even do it in advance if you know there’s a game you’re going to miss. Just make sure to bring that ticket to the Idaho Central Arena box office for the exchange.
What if your seats aren’t in the P4 Club areas and you’d like your friends to sit with you? We can help there, too. Based on availability, the “Never a Wasted Ticket” benefit allows you to upgrade that exchanged ticket into your seating area. For instance, If you sit in Section 113 (P3 Club), you can upgrade the exchanged ticket and bring a friend to the game with you for the price difference between a P3 Club seat and a P4 Club seat… which is less than ten dollars. Not a bad deal, eh?
