ABOUT US

Like Any Business Biography There Is A Past, Present & Future Profile

PAST

The word “Auction” has always been familiar, as I was raised in a family involved in the Livestock Auction Industry. In 1984 I attended and graduated from Western College of Auctioneering in Billings, Montana and later served as a bid calling instructor at WCA. Like most auctioneers you begin as a bid caller for existing companies. In 1992 I began my own company PICKETT AUCTION SERVICE. It was a gradual climb in a very competitive auction community.  From the beginning we strived to base our company on Honesty and Professionalism. I continued my education through the Auction Marketing Institute, keeping abreast of dynamic & fast paced changes in the auction industry. Becoming a member of professional associations such as CAI, NAA, and OAA. Along with countless hours of continuing education contributing to our growth along with practical experience, customer and client building and an eye for marketing detail. I have been a past state auctioneer champion and finalist in the National Livestock Auctioneer competition.

At first our primary business was in live Estate & Personal Property, Real Estate, and Farm & Livestock Auctions. Over a 25 year period our customer following was consistent with our professionalism and successful auction execution. We strived to successfully bring the “people to the product.”

PRESENT

Every industry has a growth plateau. Changes within that industry force you to simply realize “grow with it- or- get out of the way.”

In 2009 PICKETT AUCTION SERVICE embarked in a new direction-“Internet Only Bidding Auctions”. With continued education and advanced training in computer technology, including the welcoming of the “WORLD WIDE WEB” our company embarked on one of its largest changes to date. Our first online auctions presented extreme learning curves. We had to re-write how we conducted an auction (compared to the good old days). Changing how we should now present the product to our public. We had to restructure advertising policies and re-assess staff needed and location to have a successful auction. As we all know “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” No truer words have ever been spoken. Here we are now close to 8 years later and believe we are leaders in this new internet auctioning industry. In the first year we conducted internet auctions my competitors told me I was crazy and going to ruin the auction business! You’ll never make it work. People won’t want to buy a tractor on the internet or “farmers can’t run a computer”. They kept saying “you can’t.” As we very clearly know now it does work and many of those critiques are trying to catch up. Today we are striving to bring “the product to the people.”

FUTURE

Here at Pickett Auction Service we strive to continue moving forward and growing with the times. Through the use of the “WORLD WIDE WEB” we can now bring the “PRODUCT TO THE PEOPLE.” The auction industry is right at the publics fingertips. Removing the difficulty of location and time. Travel and shipping plans can be made after you are determined the Winning Bidder. The conveniences are remarkable.

Pickett Auction Service is committed to our customers and our company will strive to keep “Raising the Bar for the Auction Industry.”
